Liquid screed floor preparation guide

November 15, 2018

Our underfloor heating systems are developed in a way which is maintenance free/low maintenance. Once our systems have been installed it can be ran by itself. Any additional maintenance works that are needed will be undertaken above ground at the manifold boiler position with minimal disruption.

Preparing for installation

  1. Weathertight – The building ist be made weathertight i.e the roof and external openings must be fitted with final fixtures or clear polythene.

  2. Exposed edges – You must add temporary formwork to the exposed edges (e.g. door openings or level changes).

  3. Clean – Make sure you clean the area ensuring that no dust or debris is hanging about.

  4. Underfloor heating – We recommend using polythene to separate the membrane, all heating piped should be securely in place and warm water systems should be filled prior to the application of the screed to reduce risks of pipes floating when pouring the screed.

  5. Insulation – All high/low areas must be removed from the sub-base and that insulation boards are laid flat down.
